Bellydance? Do you? Do you want to? I bet you do! Bellydance is as ancient as man and woman
. From an early age, we all like to move, put the music on and you know you can't help but tap r feet.
I discovered bellydance "later in life" and realized it tied together my core belief in Spirituality and the Movement of the human body. It was the perfect fit. After a crash course studying with many (see below) instructors over a 3 year period, I have been dancing now for almost 7 years. I embarked on the Bellydance Instructor journey as well, 3 years ago. I have certifications in teaching Aerobics and Seniors, and taught areobics and body movement many times over the last 30 years, I could not help but wonder what took me so long to dance? I also believe in the "Mind-Body" connection, so I often use spirituality, yoga and visualization to help my students. Now, teaching Baby Boomers, Seniors, Childrens Summer Camps, performing, mentoring and blogging has come to this site, my big blogging site!!. Yosifah, my second teacher, once a student of Sharifa, quickly has become one of the most prominent Middle Eastern Dance Performers in the San Franciso Bay Area. She is a musician, singer and Raks Performer. Click on her name to be taken to her website for details on where to see her perform.

Suhaila is probably one of the most famous names in American Bellydance. Her mother Jamila is credited with bringing modern bellydance to California in the Early days of the 1960's to 1970's. Many older Bellydancers today remember studying with Jamila, and many young bellydancers today would like to study with Suhaila. I was lucky to have that opportunity and to have her living right in my back yard of the San Francisco Bay Area. Click on her name to be taken to her website for additional information.
